(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-06) issued the following statement today at the conclusion of the White House Health Care Summit:
“More than anything, it looks like the President and the Democrats are more resolved than ever to jam through their budget-busting health care bill. I fear today’s meeting served only to further the Democrats push towards the controversial process of reconciliation.
“Americans have soundly rejected what the Democrats have passed so far, and today’s summit presented both parties an ideal opportunity to start from scratch and really work in the best interests of the American people. But sadly, we learned first hand that the Democrats are more partial to big government overhauls than they are to commonsense, fiscally responsible reforms. Will Democrats be more inclined to reach across the aisle and implement key Republican ideas? I sincerely hope so. But if this past year is any indication, I think it’s safe to say that more was accomplished at the White House Beer Summit than at the White House Health Care Summit that took place today.
